Its now 22 years since the two Daves took over the helm of JR Print!

In the early days, back in 2000, the office was based in Sedgwick Lane in Horsham and had one member of staff. Later they moved to Denne Parade and then to the Bishopric, where we are now based, in 2015.

There have been many changes in the last 22 years, from staff and locations, to how print technology has evolved.

A look back to the year 2000...

Litho printing was the bulk of the print workload.

Print was dominated by business stationery including letterheads, compliment slips, report pads and business cards.

There wasn't the computer technology of today - the only electronic technology then was the fax machine and phone line!!

For four colour (full-colour) jobs a four colour cromalin photographic proof was produced off site, taking around three days to be returned and then viewed by the customer for proof approval before printing.

Typically from proof approval to print to collect was 5-7 working days to allow offset litho print and drying time.

Orders were phoned or faxed in.

22 years on...

JR Print has been in its home on the Bishopric for over seven years now and the team is well established:

David and David - 22 years
Adrian - 10 years
Helen - 9 years
Claire - 6 years
Andrew - 4 years

Times have changed:

The bulk of print is now digital, only around 30% of our workload is litho.

Digital print allows a fast-turnaround ethos with the ability to provide same day, or even on the spot printing.

Coloured paper is hardly used as the cost and quality of coloured print has brought the costs down.

Technology now means we have VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) via internet so no phone line needed, a range of computers and digital and large format printers.

Email is now the standard way of placing orders.

There's not a fax machine in sight!!
